Filming/photographic opportunities on the TTC

2. Major Movie/Commercial Productions

Process and Timelines: 

  1. Complete the TTC Filming Permit Application Form at least 3-weeks in advance of desired start date
  2. A TTC representative will contact you within 10 business days to confirm details and availability. They will provide pricing and a contract based on the details provided in the application form.
  3. Provide a script for review approval
    A script outlining all scenes to be filmed on TTC property must be submitted for review and approval prior to the 13 business days (track/train) or 5 business days (platform/no train/no track) deadline for submission of the detailed work plan.
  4. Develop and submit Work Plan 
    • Download the Work Plan Template
    • Deadlines to submit: If work plan is late, start date will be moved forward one day for each day late. No changes to approved work plan less than 72 hours before filming. Minor changes allowed at TTC's discretion.
      • Platform only filming: Submit work plan 5 business days before the film shoot (includes set-dressing, prep, filming, and wrap).
      • Track level or train filming: Submit work plan 13 business days before the film shoot.
    • TTC will notify you of work plan status 7 days before the proposed film shoot.

Prohibited Content:

  • Suicide or attempted suicide by train or pushing to track level
  • Recreation of real-life traumatic and violent events (e.g., subway crash)
  • Scenes that could inspire copy-cat behavior
  • Explicit scenes of sexual assault on transit property

Location Scouts/Technical Surveys:

  • Track Level Scouts/Surveys:
    • Notice Required: 13 business days
    • Details to include: Proposed date, time, total number of people, equipment required, and purpose
    • Confirmation: Determined by staff, equipment, and location availability (no earlier than 10 days after request)
    • Charges: Applicable for staff hours and equipment
  • Platform Only Surveys:
    • Notice required: 2 business days
    • Details to include: Proposed date, time, and total number of people
    • Confirmation: Determined by staff, equipment, and location availability

Safety Requirements:

  • CSA approved work shoes/boots, hard hats, reflective vests, and safety glasses.
  • Long pants (no shorts).

Production ID Badges:

  • Must be worn by all crew members on TTC property.
