Transfers
-
How does the two-hour transfers work (PRESTO card, PRESTO ticket, debit or credit)?
Customers can take advantage of the TTC’s two-hour transfer when they pay their fare using a PRESTO card, PRESTO Ticket, debit or credit card (including the cards loaded in your mobile wallet). A transfer is applied to the card or PRESTO Ticket when you first tap on a card reader. It is valid for two-hours.
Tap your card or PRESTO ticket on a reader each time you enter a subway station and when you board a bus or streetcar. As long as you’re within two hours from your first tap, you won’t be charged another fare.
Note: The two-hour transfer does not apply to cash paying customers.
-
How can I transfer between vehicles if I have paid by cash (Walking Transfer)?
Customers paying by cash must get a transfer where they pay their fare i.e. from an Operator on bus, from the Fares and Transfers Machine on a streetcar or the red Transfers machine at a subway station. Paper transfers are valid at transfer points on the day of issue for a one-way continuous trip, or as otherwise noted on the transfer. TTC paper transfers are only valid on TTC vehicles, or contracted Wheel-Trans vehicles. They are not valid on any other transit agency.
In some cases, two routes operate near each other but do not serve the same intersection and do not have any stops in common. In these cases, where specifically identified, customers can use paper transfers to transfer between routes at the walking transfer locations.
-
How do I transfer from TTC to another transit agency (e.g., MiWay, or YRT)?
MiWay (in Mississauga) does not accept TTC paper transfers, except “Zone 3” punched transfers from TTC Route 52 Lawrence.
York Region Transit (YRT) does not accept TTC paper transfers, except “Zone 3” punched transfers from TTC Routes 17 Birchmount, 68 Warden, 102 Markham Road, 129 McCowan North and 160 Bathurst North.
