5G cellular service available in select areas of the subway system
You can now access cellular service in a number of tunnels and at all stations on Lines 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6 to talk, text, stream and access emergency services. Please see the map below for details on 5G connectivity across the subway network as of March 2026.
Customers can call 9-1-1 in all areas of the subway system where 5G connectivity is available, using any cellular carrier. If an emergency occurs on a subway train, please press the Yellow Emergency Strip located above the windows. This immediately notifies the Operator and Transit Control of the emergency, ensures the subway will stop at the next station and emergency personnel are dispatched.
