Portion of TTC Line 1 to close early Mon-Thurs next week

Next week, TTC’s Line 1 will close between St Clair West and Union stations at 11 p.m. nightly from Mon., Mar. 4 through Thurs., Mar. 7. The early closures will enable the TTC to expedite the modernization of its signalling system.

Shuttle buses will run and Wheel-Trans will provide service to customers requiring accessible connections.

Dupont and Museum stations will close at 11 p.m., but all other stations will remain open for fare sales and access to surface routes. Similar early closings, which will allow the TTC to extend Automatic Train Control (ATC) operations south of Dupont Station, are scheduled throughout the year. The next one is planned for Mar. 11-14 between Finch and Lawrence stations.

When ATC is fully installed on Line 1, it will provide a more modern and reliable signal system that will help the TTC improve capacity by allowing for increased trips on the line. While the TTC does most subway maintenance at the conclusion of service each night, it continues to require weekend and early evening closures to complete critical infrastructure and ATC upgrades, as well as work on the Eglinton Crosstown.

The TTC is committed to keeping customers informed about work and events that impact service and about alternative routes. For the most up-to-date information, follow @TTCNotices on Twitter or sign up for eAlerts.
