TTC track and signal work on Line 1 this weekend

Yonge St. parking restrictions to keep traffic flowing

This weekend, Aug. 27-28, TTC crews will carry out essential track and signal work, requiring  the portion of Line 1 Yonge-University between Bloor-Yonge and Lawrence stations to close. Express shuttle buses will run, stopping only at subway stations along the route. Regular subway service resumes on Mon., Aug. 29 at 6 a.m.

To provide a faster trip for customers and keep vehicular traffic flowing smoothly, parking will be restricted on Yonge Street in the affected area throughout the closure. At peak periods, more than 100 shuttle buses will operate.

On-street parking restrictions on both sides of Yonge Street between Lawrence and St. Clair Aves. will be in effect between 3:30 a.m. Saturday and midnight Sunday. Parking is available at several Green P and private lots in the area.

The use of parking restrictions significantly improved travel times for shuttle buses during previous subway closures this year.

The TTC thanks residents, local businesses and our customers for patience as work to improve transit continues, and asks for continued support of local businesses on Yonge Street during this closure.

As PRESTO may not be available on all shuttle buses, PRESTO card users should carry tokens or exact cash in case the bus that arrives does not have PRESTO. PRESTO customers transferring from streetcars should obtain a transfer as proof of payment.
