TTC subway signal upgrade and track work this weekend

This weekend, on Saturday, August 23 and Sunday, August 24, there will be no service on Line 1 (Yonge-University-Spadina) between Bloor and Eglinton stations due to signal upgrades and track work. Frequent shuttle buses will operate between Bloor and Eglinton stations. Wheel-Trans buses will be available to accommodate customers who use wheelchairs, scooters and other mobility aids.

The signal upgrade and track work is part of the TTC’s commitment to modernization. The existing signals, relays, wiring and cabling equipment, much of which is approaching 60 years old, need replacing as their frequent failure significantly impacts service. This necessary signal and track work will result in a more reliable service.

Customers heading to the CNE or Toronto Blue Jays games this weekend are encouraged to leave additional travel time. Alternate routes to the subway service on Line 1 include:

- Frequent shuttle buses on Yonge Street between Eglinton and Bloor stations
- 32 Eglinton West bus from Eglinton to Eglinton West Station
- 512 St Clair streetcar from St Clair to St Clair West Station

Regular subway service resumes on Monday, August 25 at 6 a.m.
