Queen Street East

TTC Track Replacement on Queen Street East, from Leslie Street to Vancouver Avenue

Beginning November 1, 2026, the City of Toronto and Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) will be renewing aging streetcar tracks on Queen Street East between Leslie Street and Vancouver Avenue. This will bring the track infrastructure to a state of good repair

Following the streetcar track replacement, the City will also rehabilitate the sanitary sewer from Leslie Street to Greenwood Avenue to extend its service life.

For the streetcar track replacement, the work is scheduled to begin from the east end, moving west daily and throughout the project.

Construction work will be completed in two phases:

• Phase 1: Streetcar track renewal between Leslie Street and Vancouver Avenue (November to December 2026)
• Phase 2: Sewer Rehabilitation between Leslie Street and Greenwood Avenue(January to March 2027)
  
  

Transit diversions will be in effect for each construction phase.

Phase 1 – Track work (November – December 2026):

• 501 Queen streetcars will divert to Gerrard Street East between Broadview Avenue and Coxwell Avenue
• 501 Queen and 503 Kingston Rd replacement buses will operate as close to the work zone as possible. Details will be confirmed before this phase of work begins.
• 31 Greenwood buses are currently scheduled to divert both ways at Dundas Street East. Details will be confirmed before this phase of work begins.
