Ride the TTC for free on New Year’s Eve

From 7 p.m. on December 31 until 8 a.m. on January 1, enjoy free TTC travel across the system, courtesy of J.P. Wiser’s.

Subway service will operate until 3 a.m. and our regular Blue Night Network buses and streetcars will operate all night.

During this time, no fare is required—just enter and ride!

You should still tap your PRESTO, debit or credit card, but you won’t be charged a fare. If you are using a PRESTO Ticket, you should not tap, or else the ride will be deducted from your ticket.

There are many ways you can get around, so leave your car at home and take the TTC! We’ve got you covered.

  • Alternatives to travelling on Line 1

    Take Line 2 Bloor-Danforth to:

    • Bay Station and board a 19 Bay bus to Front Street West.
    • Spadina Station and board a 510D Spadina bus to Queens Quay. (You can also access this route at Spadina Station on Line 1)
    • Bathurst Station and board a 511 Bathurst streetcar to Queens Quay.

  • Travelling to Union Station?

We anticipate that Union Station will be very busy on New Year’s Eve. Consider travelling to and from the following stations instead, if you are heading downtown:

If you are going to Union Station after the festivities, starting at 12 a.m., you will only be able to enter the station through the doors on Bay Street, just south of Front Street. This will take your through the Brookfield Place entrance.

You may be asked to wait to enter the station, depending on how many people are there. If that happens, you will be asked to line-up on the sidewalk south along Bay Street. TTC staff will let you know when you can enter the station. Alternatively, you can use the stations mentioned above to travel northbound on Line 1.

  • Subway service
