Cheers to the New Year! Ride the TTC for free on New Year’s Eve


Free service from 7 p.m. on December 31 until 8 a.m., January 1

Ring in 2026 with free TTC travel across the city from 7 p.m. on December 31 until 8 a.m. on January 1. No fare is required! Just board any TTC bus, train, streetcar, or light rail vehicle and enjoy the ride. There’s no need to tap your PRESTO card, debit, credit, or mobile payment, and cash isn’t needed either.

Subway service will run later than usual, but please note: the last trains on each line mostly depart before 3 a.m. For example:

  • Line 1 Yonge-University: Last northbound train from Union Station leaves at 2:31 a.m. toward Finch, and at 2:27 a.m. toward Vaughan Metropolitan Centre.
  • Line 2 Bloor-Danforth: Last eastbound train from Kipling departs at 2:15 a.m.; last westbound train from Kennedy leaves at 2:18 a.m.
  • Line 4 Sheppard: Last train departs just after 3 a.m.
  • Please note: If you are travelling to Union Station after 12 a.m., you will only be able to enter the station through the doors on Bay Street, just south of Front Street. This will take your through the Brookfield Place entrance.

Check the full schedule below for details on your route. After subway service ends, Blue Night Network buses and streetcars will keep you moving all night. Nearly all Torontonians, about 97 per cent, live within a short 15-minute walk of a Blue Night route. There are many ways you can get around, so leave your car at home and take the TTC! We’ve got you covered.  

  • Subway service

    We will have extra service on Lines 1 and 2, starting at 10 p.m.

    Subway service will continue until 3 a.m. The last trains will depart as follows: 

    Line 1 – Yonge-University

    • North from Union Station towards Finch Station, last train leaves at 2:31 a.m.
    • North from Union Station towards Vaughan Metropolitan Centre Station, last train leaves at 2:27 a.m.
    • South from Finch Station towards Union Station, last train leaves at 2:00 a.m.
    • South from Vaughan Metropolitan Centre Station towards Union Station, last train leaves at 1:50 a.m.

    Line 2 – Bloor-Danforth

    • East from Kipling Station, last train leaves at 2:15 a.m.
    • West from Kennedy Station, last train leaves at 2:18 a.m.
    • East from Bloor-Yonge Station, last train leaves at 2:40 a.m.
    • West from Bloor-Yonge Station, last train leaves at 2:39 a.m.

    Line 4 – Sheppard

    • East from Sheppard-Yonge Station, last train leaves at 2:57 a.m.
    • West from Don Mills Station, last train leaves at 3:09 a.m.

    Line 6 – Finch West Light Rail Transit (LRT) and overnight service

    • East from Humber College Station, last vehicle leaves at 9:49 p.m.
    • West from Finch West Station, last vehicle leaves at 9:49 p.m.
    • Shuttle bus service will be extended from 10 p.m. until 2:30 a.m. 
    • 336 Finch West will operate from 2:30 a.m. until 7:30 a.m. 
  • Streetcar service 

    509 Harboufront: Service will be extended until 3 a.m., January 1, 2026.

    510 Spadina: Service will be extended until 3 a.m., January 1, 2026. From 3 a.m. until 8 a.m., the 310 Spadina streetcars will be operating.

    511 Bathurst: Starting at 11 p.m., the 511 Bathurst streetcars will operate between Bathurst Station and Union stations (bypassing Exhibition Loop). Customers wanting to connect to Exhibition GO will have to transfer to a westbound 509 Harbourfront streetcar at Bathurst Street and Fleet Street. 

Special New Year’s Eve Express buses to Sherbourne Station and Bathurst Station

On New Year’s Eve, special express buses will operate on two routes to help you connect to Line 2 (Bloor-Danforth):

  • Jarvis Street & Queens Quay East to Sherbourne Station: Express buses will run northbound from Jarvis Street and Queens Quay East to Sherbourne Station.
  • Spadina Avenue & Queens Quay West to Bathurst Station: Express buses will run northbound from Spadina Avenue and Queens Quay West to Bathurst Station.

Both express routes will operate from 12 a.m. to 2 a.m. on January 1, 2026, making it easier to get home after the festivities. 

  • Alternatives to travelling downtown on Line 1 (Yonge-University) subway

    Take Line 2 (Bloor-Danforth) to:

    • Bay Station and board a 19 Bay bus to Front Street West.
    • Spadina Station and board a 510 Spadina bus to Queens Quay. (You can also access this route at Spadina Station on Line 1)
    • Bathurst Station and board a 511 Bathurst streetcar to Queens Quay from 11 p.m. to 3 a.m.

    Queens Quay Station closure

    • Queens Quay Station will close from 11 p.m. December 31, until 3 a.m. January 1, 2026. Streetcars will not stop at this station during this time.
    • The 65 Parliament and 75 Sherbourne bus routes are also a great alternative to travelling to Sugar Beach and Sherbourne Commons along Queens Quay East, where you can watch the fireworks live!

    Union Station will be very busy on New Year’s Eve. Consider travelling to the following stations instead: 

    Please note: King Station is not equipped with elevators.

    Alternatives to get you home are the 2026 New Year’s Eve Express buses connecting to Line 2 (Bloor-Danforth):

    • Board at Jarvis Street and Queens Quay East, northbound to Sherbourne Station
    • Board at Spadina Avenue and Queens Quay West to Bathurst Station

    Both routes will operate from 12 a.m. to 2 a.m., January 1, 2026.

    If you are going to Union Station after the festivities, starting at 12 a.m., you will only be able to enter the station through the doors on Bay Street, just south of Front Street. This will take you through the Brookfield Place entrance.

    You may be asked to wait to enter the station, depending on how many people are there. If that happens, you will be asked to line up on the sidewalk south along Bay Street. TTC staff will let you know when you can enter the station. Alternatively, you can use the stations mentioned above to travel northbound on Line 1. 

  • Parking

    Paid parking will be available at commuter lots. Customers can leave their cars in lots overnight until 8 a.m. on January 1, 2026. 

  • Lost Items 

    Lost something on the TTC? Check our Lost Articles Office to see if your item has been found. The Lost Articles Office (at Bay subway station) is open to the public from 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., Monday to Friday, except statutory holidays. You can call us at 416-393-4100, Monday to Friday, 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. (except statutory holidays).
