Fare devices and payment


TTC fares and fare policy apply on Line 5. The customer experience is similar to the subway system, with only off-board fare payment devices (no tapping onboard vehicles) and all door boarding.

Customers can purchase Proof of Payment tickets with cash or tokens, and reload PRESTO cards using debit or credit.

Each stop has:

  • Three fare payment devices – two on the entry ramp and one mid-platform
  • Two types of fare vending machines:
    • Single Ride – accepts cash fare or tokens for a paper transfer
    • Self-serve Reload – accepts debit and credit to load fare onto PRESTO cards; does not issue new cards or accept cash
  • Fare Transaction Processor – customers tap their PRESTO card to pay their fare before boarding
