End of an era – TTC Orion V bus to make final journey

This Friday morning (Dec. 4) marks the final run of the TTC’s Orion V bus type, the first accessible TTC bus equipped with a wheelchair lift.

Starting in 1996, the TTC had two series of the Orion V bus. There were 135 diesel (7000-7134) and 50 natural gas buses (9400-9449), which were subsequently converted to diesel. As the TTC modernizes, so does its fleet. There are now 1,570 Orion VII buses and 230 Nova buses – articulated and conventional – all low-floor with ramps for accessibility and 50 low-floor Flyer buses.
