What is the TTC Underground Sounds Subway Musicians Program?
The TTC Underground Sounds Subway Musicians Program has been part of the TTC for over 44 years, providing an enhanced experience for customers travelling through subway stations and exposure to local musicians.
Every three years, the TTC accepts 175 eligible auditions. Out of 175 online auditions, eighty-nine (89) of the highest scoring musicians will be issued a licence to perform at one of the 29 dedicated spaces in stations throughout our subway system.

Is there a license fee?
Each successful musician must pay the license fee of $197.75 (HST included, cash only), for the three (3) year period.

Where will I perform if I am selected to be a TTC subway musician?
Licenced musicians perform on a three-day rotating schedule, at one of 29 dedicated spaces in stations throughout our subway system.

What happens if a licensed musician withdraws from the program?
In the event that a licensed musician withdraws from the program, the next highest scoring musician will take their place.

Who are the judges?
Three (3) judges are selected from a wide range of musical and performance arts backgrounds as well as from technical and business areas of the entertainment industry. They include highly accomplished musicians, media celebrities, and employees from musical and art organizations.
