On October 21, 2021, TTC Board members, management and staff, and members of the Advisory Committee on Accessible Transit (ACAT) hosted the TTC’s Public Forum on Accessible Transit virtually. This event is held annually to hear from the public about the accessibility of conventional TTC and door-to-door (Wheel-Trans) public transit services in Toronto. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the event was held online.
TTC staff shared a presentation highlighting recent accessibility initiatives and plans for the continued improvement of transit in Toronto, including the Wheel-Trans 10-year Strategy, Family of Services, and The Easier Access project initiatives. They also discussed the TTC's response to COVID-19. The presentation was followed by an open question and answer period, which provided the opportunity for customers to ask questions, share their experiences, provide feedback, concerns and other comments directly to a panel of senior management and staff.
Approximately 200 people watched the event live, submitted a question online, or called in to participate. Feedback gathered through the virtual event will be used to inform the TTC’s accessibility planning activities.
