Summerhill Station
Easier Access
The TTC’s Easier Access Program is making subway stations accessible. Construction at Summerhill began Fall 2021 and is scheduled for completion in early 2025. Preliminary details on the design, construction and schedule are available through the Construction Update Presentation. Please note that these are preliminary and subject to change before the start of construction.
Work continues at Summerhill Station for the new elevators. Market conditions have changed since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic with respect to the cost of work and the availability of materials which impacted work at Summerhill Station. As well, labour strikes in mid-2022 by several unions directly impacted the progress of construction work. This included crane and heavy equipment operators, carpenters, and other labourers that are critical to Easier Access work. Project schedules have been reviewed and elevators at Summerhill Station are scheduled to be in service in early 2025.
The project will provide a barrier-free path to all levels of the station and include installation of:
- Two elevators.
- Automatic sliding doors
- Accessible fare gates
- Improved signage
