Sheppard-Yonge Station

Work on the station bus roadway

What we are doing and why?

On April 1, 2024, the bus roadway at Sheppard-Yonge Station was closed for construction. The TTC is making essential upgrades at Sheppard-Yonge Station to improve bus roadways and pedestrian areas. Construction includes rehabilitating sections of the bus loop and customer platforms, as well as building underground duct banks along Harlandale Avenue. Due to site conditions, the TTC expects all work to be completed by summer 2025.

Subway and bus service is maintained throughout the project.

What to expect

  • Major construction activities include excavating and removing the existing bus roadway, renewing catch basins and maintenance covers, and placing new concrete.
  • Bus boarding locations are currently temporarily relocated to Sheppard Avenue West.
  • The bus terminal and the rest of the station remains open for customer use.
  • Work is being carried out in phases to maintain a pedestrian walkway between the bus terminal and Sheppard Avenue West.
  • Noise, dust, and vibration associated with construction can be expected with this work. Efforts will be made to keep levels to a minimum.

Work hours

  • The majority of work activities are taking place between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. daily from Monday to Friday.
  • Some overnight activity may be required for safety such as work zone set up and teardown of fencing and construction hoarding.

TTC changes as of April 1, 2024

  • 84/984 Sheppard West buses are picking up customers on the north side of Sheppard Avenue West, south of the bus terminal.
  • 85 Sheppard East buses are picking up customers at the southeast corner of Sheppard Avenue and Yonge Street.
  • Westbound 98 Willowdale-Senlac buses are picking up customers at the northeast corner of Sheppard Avenue and Yonge Street. Eastbound buses are picking up at the southeast corner of Sheppard Avenue and Yonge Street.
  • 384 Sheppard West night buses are picking up customers at the existing on-street stop on Sheppard Avenue West, south of the bus terminal.
  • 385 Sheppard East night buses are picking up customers at the southeast corner of Sheppard Avenue and Yonge Street.

Work on Harlandale Avenue

Work description and purpose

TTC and its contractor mobilized on February 21, 2024, in preparation of duct bank construction along the south curb lane of Harlandale Avenue. The work zone is adjacent to TTC's Harlandale Avenue entrance, and the entrance has been temporarily closed for safety. This closure is expected to be in place until summer 2025.

What to expect during construction on Harlandale Avenue

  • Work involves excavating two shafts on Harlandale Avenue between Beecroft Road and Yonge Street. The duct bank between the two shafts will be constructed underground using a trenchless method.
  • Noise, dust, and vibration associated with construction can be expected with this work. Efforts will be made to keep levels to a minimum.
  • To facilitate work safely, the TTC entrance on Harlandale Avenue has been temporarily closed as of February 21 until at least summer 2025. Sheppard-Yonge Station has several other entrances to serve customers during this closure.

Work hours

  • Work is typically taking place daily Monday to Friday, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Some overnight activity is required for safety.

Pedestrian and motorist details

  • The south sidewalk on Harlandale Avenue between Beecroft Road and Yonge Street is closed.
  • To ensure a safe work zone and to maintain one-way, eastbound traffic on Harlandale Avenue, existing on-street Green P parking stalls and taxi stands have been temporarily restricted.
  • No westbound vehicle access from Yonge Street onto Harlandale Avenue.
  • Access to the Green P parking lot on Harlandale Avenue is unaffected (Carpark 403).

During the Harlandale entrance closure, customers can use the alternative entrances:
