TTC Social Media Terms of Use

TTC welcomes participation from the public and TTC customers on TTC social media channels provided such participation is in compliance with these Terms of Use.

By contacting or contributing to any TTC social media channel, the user agrees to the following:

1. Be respectful of other users of the social media channel.
2. Not engage in harassment, personal attacks, or abuse toward individuals or organizations.
3. Not use language that is discriminatory, hateful, or violent towards identifiable groups or that incites others to discriminate, practice hate or violence.
4. Not break the law or encourage others to do so (this includes defamation, breaching privacy, breaching another person's intellectual property rights such as copyright, condoning illegal activity and contempt of court).
5. Not post statements that do not generally pertain to the designated topic or theme of discussion.
6. Not use the social media channel for commercial purpose of any kind.
7. Not advertise, sell or solicit to others.
8. Not post personal information of yours or other individuals (including addresses, phone numbers, email addresses or other online contact details).
9. Not impersonate or falsely claim to represent another person or an organization.
10. Not attempt to log on using another user’s account.
11. Not post materials that contain a virus or harmful component of any kind.
12. Abide by the Terms of Use for the organization hosting the social media channel.

While comments, content, messages and posts may be monitored by TTC, it may not be possible to monitor all comments, content, messages and posts immediately.  The user acknowledges that all comments, content, messages and posts submitted to a TTC social media channel, other than content submitted by, or on behalf of, TTC expresses the views and opinions of the user submitting it and TTC has no liability whatsoever for the content.  TTC may delete any comment, content, message or post if such violates these Terms of Use as determined by TTC, at its sole discretion.  If a user continues to breach these Terms of Use, TTC may, at its sole discretion, take appropriate action including blocking the user from the TTC social media channel and legal action.

The content a user submits to a TTC social media channel remains the property of the user, but by submitting it, the user gives TTC an ongoing license to use, reproduce, publish, display, distribute, transmit, modify, adapt and create derivate works of such content without payment of any compensation to the user.  The user waives any moral rights the use may have in any content the user submits.  This licence continues even if the user stops using the relevant TTC social media channel.

TTC reserves the right to redirect users of one TTC social media channel to another TTC social media channel to better assist the user. 

If a user has a compliment, complaint or a suggestion respecting TTC service or a compliment or complaint respecting a TTC employee, the user is to submit the compliment, complaint or suggestion to TTC Customer Service through the applicable online form which can be accessed at the following:

All content contributed by, or on behalf of, TTC to a TTC social media channel remains the property of TTC.  In order to reproduce the content, the user requires permission from TTC, except that the user is permitted to do the following:

1. Download and print copies of the content for the user's personal and non-commercial purposes.
2. Place links to the TTC social media channels on the user's own websites or on social media.

A TTC social media channel may contain links to other sites not maintained by or related to TTC. Such links are not sponsored by, endorsed or otherwise affiliated with TTC or its service. TTC may not have reviewed all of the sites linked to a TTC social media channel and is not responsible for the content of any off-site pages or links to any other sites. Viewing all other sites is at the user's own risk.

Use of and browsing any TTC social media channel is done at the user's own risk. TTC shall not be liable for any damages arising from the user’s access to, or use of, or browsing the TTC social media channels or uploading content to a TTC social media channel including, without limitation, damage to , or viruses that may infect, the user's computer equipment, electronic devices or other property as a result of such use or access. Without limiting the foregoing, everything on the TTC social media channels is provided to the user "as is" without warranty or any kind, either expressed or implied, including, but not limited to, the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement.

Users should know, and by participating on any TTC social media channel the user accepts, that TTC is subject to MFIPPA and all comments, content, messages and posts on any TTC social media channel (including any information or attachments included in the comments, content, messages or posts) may be reproduced or otherwise released, in whole or in part, as required by TTC subject to its obligations under MFIPPA.

These Terms of Use are governed and interpreted under the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada and any action arising in respect to the application of these Terms of Use or use of a TTC social media channel shall be within the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Province of Ontario, Canada.
