Platform types
Line 6 surface stations have three types of platforms – parallel side, centre and far side – that determine where passengers board and wait for a train either before or after it goes through an intersection.
Parallel side platforms are opposite each other on each side of the eastbound and westbound tracks.
Centre platforms are between the eastbound and westbound tracks.
Far side platforms are on opposite sides of the tracks and on opposite sides of an intersecting north/south roadway.
Vehicle type
Alstom Citadis Spirit
The light rail vehicles (LRVs) on Line 6 use overhead power collected by pantograph. Unlike TTC streetcars, the LRVs have doors on both sides. You can move from one end of the vehicle to the other from the inside, like a streetcar or Line 1 subway train.
Line 6 LRVs have a self-levelling system that enables accessible level boarding at all stations and stops without using ramps.
There are no PRESTO fare payment machines or fare boxes onboard. This means you must pay your fare before you board and get your Proof-of-Payment – the vehicle is considered a fare paid zone.
There are a total of six Passenger Emergency Intercoms by doorways to allow customers to speak with the operator.
