TTC modifying select streetcar stops for improved safety, service

Starting Monday, November 23, the Toronto Transit Commission is relocating or removing five streetcar stops to improve customer safety and service.

The decision to relocate the stops was made after a review that included consultation with ACAT, the TTC’s Customer Liaison Panel, and City Councillors, and was approved by the TTC Board in May 2014.

All streetcar stops will now be located at signalized intersections or crosswalks, enhancing customer safety.

This initiative will also improve service by removing some stops that are too close together. Transportation best practices state that streetcar stops should be 250 to 350 metres apart, and no less than 200 metres to one another.
