Toronto’s invited to TTC’s Greenwood Shop during Doors Open

The Toronto Transit Commission is opening the doors to its Greenwood Shop this Saturday, May 23, as part of Doors Open Toronto. The east-end maintenance facility, which opened in 1965, is where TTC crews repair and overhaul a large portion of the subway fleet.

Visitors will have the opportunity to ride a subway train through the extensive yards and see the heavy machinery used to keep trains in a state of good repair. There will also be a children’s activity table, and burgers and hotdogs available for three dollars, with all proceeds going to the TTC’s United Way campaign.

• Where: Greenwood Shop, 400 Greenwood Ave.
• When: Saturday, May 23, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• How to get there: Line 2 (Bloor-Danforth) to Greenwood Station, 10-minute walk south on Greenwood Avenue or take any 31 Greenwood bus south and exit at Felstead Avenue.
