TTC introduces new, convenient Metropass design

The Toronto Transit Commission is introducing a redesigned Metropass starting in November that will feature a “clipped” edge at the top-left corner of the pass.

The new design was advocated by ACAT – the Advisory Committee on Accessible Transportation – to assist blind and visually impaired transit users when entering the TTC through automatic entrances and turnstiles. The clipped edge, a helpful feature for all TTC customers, indicates the direction the pass needs to be swiped at a turnstile for smooth, fumble-free entry.

The Metropass, used by almost half of all TTC customers, is a convenient way for transit users in Toronto to get around by bus, streetcar or subway.

Transferable, the pass is sold at TTC subway stations, pass vending machines, and more than 1,800 retail locations across the city.
