TTC raises much-needed funds for United Way

Toronto Transit Commission employees and pensioners have once again proved that the TTC also stands for Transit That Cares, raising a record $1,260,000.

A cheque was presented today to the United Way by TTC General Manager of Operations Rick Cornacchia, Amalgamated Transit Union Local 113 President Bob Kinnear, and IAMAW Lodge 235 Chair Scott Johnson.

“In these difficult economic times, it is wonderful to see our employees and pensioners stepping up to help those less fortunate than themselves,” said TTC Chief General Manager Gary Webster. “The generosity and community spirit of the TTC family is heartening.”

The TTC employees and pensioners have raised more than $8 million for the United Way of Greater Toronto over the past eight years.
