Support Daily Bread Food Bank at TTC subway stations

TTC customers can help out the Daily Bread Food Bank this year, by dropping off donations at five TTC subway stations.  Donations can be made at Kennedy, Kipling, Finch and Downsview stations during regular subway operating hours.  Donation boxes will be located on subway platforms.  As well, a donation box will be in place at Bloor-Yonge Station, on the southbound mezzanine level, during the morning and afternoon rush hour periods.  Donations can be dropped off starting today until January 2, 2009.

The TTC encourages customers to help out, especially at this time of the year. Food items most needed are:

  • Peanut butter
  • Baby formula and food
  • Canned fruit or vegetables
  • Canned fish or meat
  • Macaroni and cheese
  • Rice
  • Lentils
  • Cans of stew or hearty soup
  • Powdered, canned or tetra pak milk
  • Cans of beans

Daily Bread Food Bank is a non-profit, charitable organization that is fighting to end hunger in our communities. Last year, over 950,000 people across the GTA relied on food banks. Daily Bread serves the majority of these people through neighbourhood food banks and meal programs in its 160 member agencies. Daily Bread Food Bank fights hunger by providing food and resources for hungry people; mobilizing greater community support and creating social change through research, education and advocacy.
