The TTC’s ongoing Easier Access (EA) Program is making public transit more accessible for customers. The entire subway train fleet is accessible, and more than half of Toronto’s subway stations are wheelchair and scooter friendly.

Lawrence Station will be receiving two new elevators to improve customer safety and convenience. The work to support this upgrade includes hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, structural and architectural components, along with the detailed project coordination aspects related to renovations.

Market conditions have changed since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic concerning the cost of work and the availability of materials which impacted work to make the station accessible. The project schedule at Lawrence Station has been reviewed and elevators are scheduled to be in service by late-2025. More details related to this Easier Access project are below:

The project will provide a barrier-free path to all levels of the station and include installation of:

  • Two elevators which will connect customers from the station entrance to the bus terminal and subway levels.
  • New stairs from the platform to concourse level of the station.
  • Improved wayfinding and signage throughout the station.
  • Accessible sliding doors at the main entrance, and barrier free doors throughout the station.
