TTC Special Constable - Recruitment Process
1. Online Application & Assessment
Eligible applicants complete an online General Aptitude Test. Successful candidates move to the first interview.
2. First Interview (Virtual)
A Talent Acquisition Specialist conducts a Microsoft Teams interview to review your suitability, competencies, and next steps.
3. Physical Testing
Candidates complete the TTC’s PIN‑equivalent physical assessment, measuring cardiovascular endurance, strength, agility, and job‑specific abilities.
4. In‑Person Panel Interview
Led by the Special Constables team, this interview includes behavioural and scenario‑based questions. Key competencies evaluated: communication, teamwork, analytical thinking, DEI values, self‑control, relationship building, and judgement. Written Communication Test: A scenario‑based report.
5. Psychological Assessment
Includes a standardized test and interview with a licensed psychologist to assess overall suitability.
6. Background Investigations
A comprehensive TPS (Toronto Police Services) and TTC background review is required before a Conditional Offer can be issued.
7. Conditional Offer
Issued after successful completion of:
- Physical testing
- Panel interview
- Psychological assessment
- TPS (Toronto Police Services) & TTC background investigations
Offer is contingent on the Medical Assessment and Special Constable Training.
8. Medical Assessment
Conducted by the TTC’s medical partner. Candidates must meet TTC standards for vision, colour acuity, and hearing.
9. Training Placement
Once all requirements are met, candidates are placed in the next available Special Constable training class, based on operational needs.
