McBrien Building - roof repairs

Effective January 16, 2023 to July 2023

What we are doing and why

To maintain a state of good repair, TTC’s contractor will be working to rehabilitate multiple sections of the roof at McBrien Building.

Noise and dust will be kept to a minimum. Electrical power and HVAC systems will not be impacted during this project.

Certain work activities such as hot work will be conducted at night for approximately three to four weeks. This activity is not expected to produce disruptive noise.

All work requiring power tools or concrete work will continue to take place during the daytime.

Work hours

While the majority of work for this project is scheduled during the daytime, some night shifts are required to complete the hot work. There will be activity on the roof between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. until early June.

Materials and storage

Some areas in front of the building (facing Yonge Street) will be used to store material and equipment. During this time, the bike rings and repair tools behind the fencing will be unavailable.

The main entrance to the building and the elevator to Davisville Station will be maintained.

Use of a crane will be required from time to time to deliver material and equipment to the roof. This activity will be pre-scheduled and will be staged on Yonge Street.

Contractor access

The staircase located at the north-west corner of the building will be the contractor’s main access and egress.

Thank you for your patience during this work at the McBrien building.
