What we are doing and why:

The TTC’s Easier Access Program is making subway stations accessible. The TTC will be conducting work at Christie Station and in the Erlichman laneway area that will make Christie Station accessible in 2024.

The overall project will be conducted in various stages.

The project will create a barrier-free path from the main entrance to all levels of the station including installation of:

  • Two elevators to access eastbound and westbound platforms
  • Automatic sliding station entry doors
  • Improved signage
  • CCTV security cameras inside the station
  • Public art installation as a part of the TTC Public Art Program

Stage 1 & 2 to begin as early as June 6, 2022 and will include the following activities for approximately one week:

Green P parking lot 144/376 Clinton Street (changes will be in effect as early as June 6, 2022):

Parking in the Green P lot will be available during construction, however a portion of the lot will be reduced for at least 2 years to accommodate the future construction area for the elevators:

  • Private parking displaced by construction will be accommodated for in the Green P lot.
  • Up to 7 spots will be available for public parking.
  • The Green P lot (southwest corner) will be temporarily modified to maintain access to the laneway.
  • There will be no through-traffic in the Erlichman laneway between Clinton Street and Christie Street.
  • Green P lot will only be accessible from Clinton St. during construction.
  •

Pictured below is the conceptual plan for Stage 1 & 2:

Crews will set up the construction trailer and install fencing, hoarding within the parking area. Work will begin within Christie Street Right of Way and Erlichman laneway.
