Dundas Street East between River Street and Munro Street - Essential Rail and Concrete Repairs

What we are doing and why

Starting on Monday, April 24, 2023, TTC track staff will be conducting rail and concrete repairs on Dundas Street East between River Street and Munro Street. Carroll Street to Munro Street will be April 24 to 26. River Street will be April 25 to 27.

Work activities will include concrete saw-cutting, concrete breaking/removal, rail replacement, and placement of new concrete. 

Work activities, hours and timeline

• Rail work of this nature is required around-the-clock to ensure quality installation of new rail and concrete. Concrete breaking/removal work will typically end at 11 p.m.
• Expected overnight activities include rail welding and placing new concrete.
• Concrete is poured in the track area and set to cure. The new concrete requires curing time before the work zone is removed for the resumption of full road use.

Motorist and cyclist impact

• TTC crews will work in the centre lanes. Cycle paths will be closed through the work zone for the duration of the work. Paid duty officers or flag persons will be on site to assist.
• Traffic restrictions and the work zone will be cleared once the newly placed concrete has cured.

TTC service – 505 Dundas Route

• 505 Dundas streetcars will continue to operate during the daytime.
• From April 24 to April 28, each night from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m., 505 Dundas replacement buses will operate on Dundas Street East between Jarvis Street and Broadview Avenue. Customers need to transfer at Parliament Street for eastbound 505 Dundas replacement bus, and at Broadview Avenue for westbound 505 Dundas replacement bus.
