College Street east of Dovercourt Road - essential rail and concrete repairs

Effective May 30, 2023 to June 1, 2023

What we are doing and why

Starting on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, TTC track staff will be conducting rail and concrete repairs on College Street, between Dovercourt Road and Delaware Avenue.

This work is required to return the area to a state of good repair.

Work activities, hours, and timeline

  • Work activities will include concrete saw cutting, concrete breaking/removal, rail replacement, and placement of new concrete.
  • Rail work of this nature is required around the clock to ensure the quality installation of new rail and concrete. Concrete breaking/removal work will typically end at 11 p.m.
  • Expected overnight activities include rail welding and placing new concrete.
  • Concrete is poured into the track area and set to cure. The new concrete requires curing time before the work zone is removed for the resumption of full road use.

Motorist impact

  • TTC crews will work in the centre lanes. Traffic on College Street will be reduced to one lane in each direction through the local work zones for the duration of the work.
  • To maintain traffic, street parking will be temporarily restricted in the vicinity of the work zone.
  • The location of work zones may inhibit left turns.
  • Paid duty officers or flag persons will be on-site to assist.
  • Traffic restrictions and the work zone will be cleared once the newly placed concrete has cured adequately for road traffic.

TTC service – 506 College route

  • 506 Carlton replacement buses will operate through the area during this work.
  • 506 Carlton streetcars will divert both ways via Dundas Street West at Bathurst Street to regular routing.
